Field is dedicated to the investigation of drawing. It seeks to stimulate public, artistic and curatorial engagement with drawing through exhibitions, workshops, educational programs, artist registry and experimental projects. Field is committed to the innovation, expansion and discovery drawing as a process, tool and vital, cultural phenomenon. Field considers drawing to be an immediate and transitive action that facilitates the visual expression of space, time and experience. Against a backdrop of increasingly sophisticated imaging technology, and an expanded use of hybrid media within the arts, the activity of drawing assumes a dynamic and shifting position between centrality and the margins. It is from this unique tension of the understood and the emerging, the learned and the instinctual that drawing becomes possibility. Field is the collaborative effort of a group of artists, educators and curators. |
